Central Dispatch — Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 26, 2026
Central Dispatch is a public-safety dispatch application used by law-enforcement and security officers and their dispatch agencies. This policy explains what the Central Dispatch officer mobile app ("the app") collects, why, and your choices. The service is operated by Central Dispatch ("we", "us").
The app is provided to officers by their dispatch agency. Accounts are created and managed by the agency, and the location and activity you share through the app are visible to your agency's dispatchers and on-duty teammates.
Information we collect
- Account information — your name, badge number, unit number, agency email address, and work/cell phone numbers, as provided by your agency.
- Precise location — your device's GPS coordinates and accuracy. Location is collected while you are signed in and on duty, including in the background and when the app is closed or not in use, and is sent to dispatch approximately every two minutes so dispatchers and your team can see where you are during a shift. Location is also captured when you tap an action button (Acknowledge / Respond / Arrive / Complete) or add a note. We stop collecting location when you sign out.
- Photos and videos — media you capture with the camera or select from your photo library to attach to a call card. We access the camera, microphone, and photo library only when you choose to add an attachment.
- Notifications token — a push-notification identifier used to alert you to new dispatches, including when the app is closed.
- Device and usage data — device type, operating system, app version, and basic diagnostic/log data.
How we use information
- To deliver dispatch alerts and call details to you, including critical, time-sensitive notifications.
- To share your location and status with your dispatch agency and on-duty officers in your agency so the team can coordinate during calls for service.
- To attach the photos, videos, and notes you submit to the relevant incident record.
- To maintain the security and reliability of the service.
How information is shared
- Your dispatch agency and teammates. Your location, status, notes, and attachments are shared with your agency's dispatchers and on-duty officers within your agency. Data is isolated to your agency.
- Service providers that operate the service on our behalf: cloud hosting, push-notification delivery (Expo, Apple Push Notification service, Firebase Cloud Messaging), transactional email (Postmark), telephony and call recording (Twilio), and map tiles (OpenStreetMap). These providers process data only to provide their service.
- Legal. We may disclose information where required by law or to protect safety.
- We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.
Data retention
Incident records — dispatches, notes, attachments, and reports — are public-safety records and are retained by your agency according to its records-retention obligations, which may be required by law. Location pings are retained to support the live map and incident history. Push tokens are removed when they become invalid or when you sign out.
Your choices and rights
- Permissions. You can grant or revoke location, camera, photos, and notification permissions at any time in your device settings. Revoking location will stop location sharing and may limit the app's usefulness during calls.
- Delete your account. You can delete your account from inside the app via Delete my account on the dispatch list screen. This removes your personal information (name, contact details, and push token) and disables your sign-in. Incident records you contributed to remain part of the agency's immutable case history as required for public-safety record-keeping. You may also request deletion by contacting us at info@centraldispatch.agency.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections, and your authentication token is stored in the device's secure keystore (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
The app is intended for use by adult public-safety personnel and is not directed to children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date above.
